2025 Expedition Team

The field research was conducted under the direction of Alexandros Sotiriou, associate researcher at the University of Geneva, with a team of diving archaeologists consisting of Dr. Chrysanthi Papadopoulou, Dr. Isaac Ogloblin and Orestis Manousos, and specialized divers Nikolaos Giannoulakis, Stylianos Matsoukatidis, Haris Mitrou and Dimitris Stamoulis. The team was complemented by the participation of eight members of the Hellenic Coast Guard Underwater Missions Unit (Special Diving Team), consisting of Aristotelis Achtypis, Achilleas Ganelas, Athanasios Keitzis, Dimitrios Kiosis, Dimitrios Kremmydas, Georgios Lytrivis, Ioannis Spalas and Dimitrios Hadziaslan.


The documentation of the archaeological findings, the creation of the 3D models and the updating of the GIS were carried out by Dr. Patrizia Birchler Emery (University of Geneva), Orestis Manousos and Dr. Timothy Pönitz (University of Geneva), while the field laboratory instruments were supplemented with the contribution of the dendrochronologist Dr. François Blondel (University of Geneva).


Technical support (audiovisual documentation, monitoring of work with ROV’s and lifting systems) was provided by the members of the Hublot Xplorations team Mathias Buttet, Guillaume Champain, Vincent Philippoz, Anil Brancaleoni and Elliot le Corre.


Last but not least, the cook was Ilias Charalambous, while the general coordination of the mission was carried out by Yanis Bitsakis (University of Geneva and Nereus Research Foundation).
